Okay, so the West edition is temporarily in the newsroom. But has the East edition already started coming from a generic style set, or is East still on the existing set?

Well as a resident of Bedford, may I say how nice the bridge is looking now. I don't know whether it will remain blue, although I expect it will since the colour blue is synonymous with Bedford. It's great (and somewhat a mystery) that Anglia have decided to use The Embankment as their backdrop.

I got the impression that the backdrop they would be using would be alternating each night.

The reason West is coming from the newsroom this week is because they have moved the cameras up to the new studios, so they are using a temporary set up in the meantime.

The picture in the background on that TV set (taken from the win a new tv competition!) is one of the test backdrops filmed for the West which won't be used. I'm not sure where it is, but it's definitely not Norwich as someone rightly pointed out!

The backdrop West will use has been chosen, but you'll have to wait until Saturday to find out.

Very Happy

I hope they haven't just moved the same cameras, as they quality is rubbish. Seriously, if they can broadcast in widescreen in good quality cameras on other programmes, why not Anglia News. Rolling Eyes

So still no proper widescreen by the looks of it.

These are from the first report from the new studio, as you can see the lighting is a little different to the west...

I'm chuffed to see animating graphics, they're such a big improvement. They flash on and off the screen a little too fast for my liking but I'm sure all that kind of stuff will be ironed out soon.

For some reason I like the spinning ball on the football graphics, I'm not sure if that is all new or if it was always used.

It's a massive improvement in my opinion, and it's nice for west to have a real studio!

Whereabouts is that camera positioned?

You can just about make out the clock tower of City Hall, the Anglican Cathedral, and the Castle, but can't quite get my head around where it's looking out from.

The East's lighting looks significantly better. The West's looks a bit flat in comparison.

the studio looks nice, but the picture is still quite blurry - anybody else notice this?

I'm going to take a wild guess at the location of the camera, I wonder if it is fixed on the Roman Catholic Cathedral?

I was thinking that too. It must be on the RC Cathedral... I really can't think of anywhere else that high looking out on that location.

I only live about five minutes walk from the RC Cathedral, so I'm pretty good with the geography of the place. I reckon the little church in the foreground is St Giles on the Hill, but it seems closer to the camera position than the RCC is.

Just looking on Google Maps, it has to be on top of the RCC... it fits perfectly showing City Hall, the Castle, and the Anglican Cathedral in the distance.
