I'm currently unsure about the lack of a rug.

I agree. Andrew's hairline is receeding quite badly now.

I think the backdrop looks fine, but saying that I wasn't a regular viewer of the programme when it was in TC7.

I think the screens might actually be in that image but not switched on and so are not visible.

I think we're getting confused here. They look like backlit translucent perspex with perhaps the "marr" logo being shone on by spotlight.

Quite possibly. I can see the structure in the picture but I have no idea on how the image is being produced.

and as its got some movement in the image it makes it feel less like a screen. Is this a pre record or is it a Live picture?

The previous backdrop on Andrew Marr also had movement. It was a stitch together of about 8 separate HD shots. The original backdrop for the Barcos WAS stitched from stills but it didn't last long!

I doubt the new one is live either...

The previous Barco background was pretty sharp, and because it was HD it allowed SD cameras to take close-ups of the background without it looking too soft (the TVC Barcos can have HD backgrounds, though the overlaid images are often sub-SD) In HD I suspect that the Barcos being so 'sharp' would have actually made the background look quite nasty in HD.

The new Marr backdrop appears to be diffused LED - and it's definitely the right call. To get decent close-ups in HD with a pin-sharp HD backing from a small section of screen you'd need 4K or sharper backings...

I am seeing a little bit of the screen structure on some wides (and on the harder set MS/MCU) - but it's looking pretty damn good - and the design of the backdrop and seating, ensuring St Pauls and the City is in the sofa backdrop, and Parliament and 'Big Ben' are in the backdrop for the harder set is very nicely done.

There appears to be less 'extra set' than previously - the books have moved from shelves and the plasma stand to the coffee table and a small table on the harder set. Feels cleaner and a bit more minimal.

Cable management is going to be even trickier in HD - and they're going to have to be very careful with set that gets moved to ensure it doesn't get chipped.

By the way - was Naga in Salford or in London? I didn't see Breakfast.

Salford, as per any other Sunday or any other day of the week. Looked much better in HD too.

This is going to be a derp question... Is the iPlayer broadcasting in HD?

Also... Is the "marr" logo on the Astons outside safe areas?

So, no view of the main desk area then.

Yes, it should be.

Here's another shot:

The studio is looking pretty nice, though I think it's my least favourite in BH. I don't like the left side of the set, the design seen in the renders was much better.

I'm also not a fan of how they've dressed it for The Andrew Marr Show with the sofa and coffee table. Looks like somebody's living room has been abducted into a spaceship. Perhaps having a rug or podium would help. I think the renders had a circle of different coloured flooring, which would also suffice.

The wide shots at the end were rather nice. That 'performance area' looks quite big:

Overall, I'm very impressed with Studio B from what I've seen so far. It will be interesting to see how different it can look when re-dressed and re-lit, and with the other parts in use too.

I think Newsnight is going to look amazing from here, if this is a typical example of what they can do with the set.

Yes they are. The column in the top picture is the left column on the lower picture - the screens are dark but are visible to the left of that column.
