Are they projection screens? I'm sure this has been asked before.

No, they're LED screens - which becomes obvious on close up shots where the image is moving.

Hypocritical TV Forumers strike again... for years on this forum people have been complaining about the images on the Barco screens in TC7 now complaining about W1B.

On the whole the backdrop is better than TC7, there are less gaps and in most shots you dont see the screen edge... and as its got some movement in the image it makes it feel less like a screen. Is this a pre record or is it a Live picture?

I thinks It would look better if the #MarrShow aston was centred vertically.

I'm currently unsure about the lack of a rug. Works well on the wider shots but seems slightly strange when The camera is focused on a wide shot of Andrew during the newspaper review.

As others have commented not sure on the background but this perhaps is a deliberate decision.

Those screens (?) on the left weren't there in the pictures we've seen before...

I think the backdrop looks fine, but saying that I wasn't a regular viewer of the programme when it was in TC7.

I'm certainly not complaining.

We have to remember that this is also being broadcast in HD, perhaps the individual LED components in the screens wouldn't be so obvious in SD.

It will almost certainly be pre recorded as I'm sure it was stated that for the TC7 backdrop they had to film in high definition and stitch the pictures together. Not sure they would want to do that in realtime.

I don't see the problem either - the background itself is a lot, lot better (though it does look edited) and the quality isn't bad. I think TC7's Barcos would have looked much worse at HD quality.

The studio itself looks nice, and far better than TC7 which was beginning to look a bit knackered even in SD - and I think we'll see bits of changes over the weeks as we often do with new studios which will probably see things look even better. No complaints at all so far from me!

Are we forgetting its a massive video wall so there are definitely going to be limits as to the resolution of any image they put on screen. We're never going to get a crisp lifelike image with the current levels of technology on a BBC budget.

As for a rug, they may have decided against one?

Speculation Speculation Speculation Ta Daaaa!

You can just about make out the top part of the first screen, but that area doesn't look as though it was lit when that picture was taken.

I think the screens might actually be in that image but not switched on and so are not visible.

As someone watching in SD (I'm from Wales, we've only just had colour) I can assure you the individual LEDs can't be seen. Smooth as a baby's bum here.

I think we're getting confused here. They look like backlit translucent perspex with perhaps the "marr" logo being shone on by spotlight.
