Flicked on to BBC One to see they've rejoined BBC News for an hour this morning when The Andrew Marr Show is scheduled.

Not that I'm complaining, never watch the Andrew Marr show, but it seems silly to me to rejoin the news channel, particularly when they've been simulcasting with it for a good part of this morning - guess this is part of the policy of not using proper filler programmes (like they didn't when the golf broke down a while back), but I guess it is a more suitable replacement for the slot rather than something like Animal Park.

And, according to the EPG description we've "join[ed] the BBC's rolling news channel for a night of news". I didn't realise the night lasted that long, otherwise I'd still be in bed.

Why was this morning's programme pulled ?

I don't think it was pulled. It seems there wasn't one planned. The BBC's Press Office's blurb for last weeks show says the show will return on 5th September, so I'd guess the wrong schedules had gone out. I think the News Channel might have been better sticking on Breakfast until 10am as they do on Saturday, as this would be more familiar to BBC viewers.

Isn't Match Of The Day on BBC One normally on a Sunday before AM?

Yes, but Breakfast continues on the News channel until 9.00, so they could have extended it on the NC until 10.00 and gone back to that, or kept Breakfast on BBC1 until 8.40 and put MOTD out 8.40-10.00

At the moment, it does appear to be scheduled for next Sunday:

Well it was down for this morning in this week's Radio Times, so it wouldn't surprise me if next week's is an error as well.

Indeed even on the Sky Planner it showed The Andrew Marr show beyond the start time.

On a slightly related note the Formula 1 motor racing today was scheduled on the EPG to run for five hours, 12:10-17:00, and was left like that for the best part of three hours before anybody noticed. After about half an hour of the EastEnders omnibus somebody spotted and corrected the EPG entry.

If it is the 5th of September, then it will be the Saturday after the next.

I hear there was a bit of a clerical error - the production team forgot to tell the scheduling people that they were going on a break.

Apparently Pres only found out 25 minutes before it was due to go on air.
