I've created this thread as a general "postbox" for matters that don't necessarily relate to a specific channel / programme / presenter, or noteworthy items that are only short lived or warrant just a little bit of discussion. Or perhaps an announcement of something that is "coming up", that all us avid newsies should keep our eyes peeled for.

I'll start the ball rolling............


I think there was a conspiracy again amongst female tv news anchors on earlier this week, as the following all appeared wearing black on the same day! I am sure they all meet up for a coffee morning and conspire to get us all thinking that something is going to happen:

Not 'us all', just you James. This appears to be becoming an obsession of yours.

Black is a popular colour amongst female newsreaders; it's suitably sombre for presenting the news, and it's 'slimming'. So lots of female newsreaders all wearing black is an unremarkable and inevitable, minor coincidence, nothing more.

Perhaps if brightly-coloured, floral, Hawaiian shirts become the norm for newsreading, and then one day they all switch to black, there might be reason for concern. Until then, please, please give your imagination a rest dear.

Jon Snow is reported in the press (BBC News Online) that he considers the future to be bleak for UK based TV News Providers.

This isn't pointless, far from it.

It is pointless because we already have generic topics about news channels, about news programmes, about news presenters, about regions so does this forum really need another "forum within a forum" to encapsulate anything else ? Chances are it can either be accommodated in an existing thread, or have a thread of its own if.

Its not required its just topic starting willy waving, that's all.

I remember a few months ago everyone was saying someone big was on their last legs..as many presenters were in black. I normally wear a black trouser suit to work..but that is due to it suiting my appearance!
