Singer Amy Winehouse, 27, has been found dead at her home, the Press Association has reported.

Last month, the north Londoner pulled out of her European tour after she was jeered at her comeback gig in Serbia for appearing too drunk to perform.

For 90 minutes, she mumbled through parts of songs and at times left the stage - leaving her band to fill in.

The troubled singer had a long battle with drink and drugs which overshadowed her musical career in recent years.

A Metropolitan Police spokesman confirmed that a 27-year-old woman had died in Camden and that the cause of death was as yet unexplained.

London Ambulance Service had been called to the flat at 1554 BST and sent two ambulances but the woman died, it said.

Winehouse had won widespread acclaim, aged 20, with her 2003 debut album, Frank.

But it was 2006's Back to Black which brought her worldwide stardom, winning five Grammy Awards.

Bit of a shock. BBC News currently on phone, no caption so I'm not sure who it is.

Although it shouldn't be shocking because of drink and drug problems, its still a shock.

Was she popular in America? I see the main channels have breaking banners on top of their sites about the news.

Normally I would say something like this didn't need a thread of its own, but what will be interesting is to see how they balance the coverage with that of the attacks in Norway.

Nevertheless, a really quite tragic life for someone with such talent.

BBC and Sky have both sent trucks to the end of her street.
(A friend of mine lives across the square, and apparently it's a very weird media circus)

Not sure how it was handled in the UK, but on BBC World, Komla Dumor broke into an ongoing Jon Sopel live interview to bring the news.

Actually, BBC World News now running a report by David Sillitoe (an obituary essentially). Strange to think that they had already prepared an obit for someone who is so young. The report is clearly not just prepared, but had been pieced together some time ago.

I see some of the tabloids and some other news outlets are already calling her a 'troubled genius'. Lets forget for a moment that the word 'genius' has clearly lost its meaning in recent years. It's 'Jade Goody' syndrome all over again. It's a sad loss indeed that she has died so young, but it annoys me that now she's dead she's suddenly in the eyes of the tabloids elevated to 'genius' status, when only a couple of days ago those same tabloids were saying she was just an alcohol and drug addicted loser who couldn't perform in her own concerts. To my mind neither of those is true, but it makes you laugh just how quickly a tabloid will change their opinion when it suits a story.

Seen it mentioned her dad is on a flight to the US and it isn't known if he is aware of it. I thought it was common courtesy in journalism not to release news of a death until the family is informed.

Then again - common courtesy in journalism was probably to intercept the 999 call.

Blimey... What a weekend of sad news. Horrible.

But this is TV Forum so I must ask, have any of the terrestrial networks done anything?
