...and I don't really see why they should? I've seen some pretty nasty American ones with bouncing numbers animating all over the screen, but they're generally not as useful as yer bog-standard clock with some Mode 7 text.
A VT clock needs to do its job: tell you precisely how long until the programme is to start. If it can't do that, to frame accuracy, and doesn't degrade gracefully once it's been squashed through a standards converter, then it's about as much use as a chocolate teapot.
I noticed a few film-style countdown clocks in bbclover's collection which look suspciously like the standard one from Adobe Premiere.
