Alastair Stewart - News at Ten

Being out of the country and not bang up to date, but is today indeed Alastair's last ever News at Ten? Can someone confirm?

If so, it's worthy of it's own thread, rather than being buried away in the mega-thread on this board.

I know Alastair will continue to present the 1:30 and the 6:30 news, but he has been associated with News at Ten for the last 30-odd years. A significant milestone in this day and age.

I'm sure Alastair himself will not wish any fuss, but I do hope his colleagues at ITN mark the occasion in some way.

Don't see how it's particularly noteworthy really. There is easily a chance that he will cover when others are unavailable or Bradby's on location for example. I don't think we can say he will NEVER be on News at Ten again.

Alastair confirmed on Twitter yesterday, that tonight will be his last News At Ten.

Alastair Stewart has been presenting News at ten for 30 odd years, off and on, independent seems to think he joined NaT in 89 which is hog wash, he was around doing it in 86: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z8t8kx6BcM0

Of course back in the day, along with Trever, carol, Fiona, Julia, Nicloas and even Sue could appear in any ITN bulletin including ch4. many would pop up on Nat.

Not sure it's that big a deal. He hasn't presented News at Ten continuously for all that time. He wasn't with ITN at all for about a decade, and is only a cover presenter of it now. I'm sure he'll turn up on there again at some point when people are on holiday.

He won't officially be cover for News at Ten but I suspect is the most likely to appear if cover is needed, unless he too has put his foot down in protest at the changes as others are reported to have done.
