The best bit was that he had a radio and was actually aware of all the vigils, the petition etc.

He just spoke live on News 24 and World during the final TVC vigil, and noted the Glastonbury technicians and Eastenders crew giving 2 minutes of their time to think about him on his 100th day in captivity.

Fantastic news that he's been released. Good for him.

Great news that he's been freed after quite a considerable amount of time in captivity.

So did News 24 go their own way from 6am to 8.30am this morning? They were certainly on their own at 8.10am.

Nope, it was Breakfast on N24 this morning.

Not all morning it weren't - I switched on at 8.10 and N24 were on their own.

Sorry, should have made a bit clearer - it was on at 6.30am this morning. Unaware what time they switched over.

N24 opted out at 08.05 after a brief coverage of the release as on Breakfast Sian said 'there's more coverage on BBC News 24 and Breakfast continues on BBC One ' to which Breakfast continued with the news summary.

I will confess that there has been times where I have thought "do we really need to put all this money and power into broadcasting the BBC World Radio Service on all these different wavelengths across the world". I now fully regret these thoughts, and I think it is excellent that he was able to hear all of these vigils, specials and general day-to-day coverage about him. It's nice to know that this effort has gone to the best use of all, keeping him going (as well as trying to free him), as he knows we were all here supporting him.

Note to self - get a DAB radio so I can listen to the World Service at times other than 1 to 5 in the morning.

From the stuff I hear on the World Service (usually when I'm half asleep) it's a real gem.

This is just great news I'm so happy. Nothing more to add really. I thought he was dead so it's good to have some good news for a change.

ASDA do a great little DAB/FM job for just under 30 notes. I bought one for work last week & hopefully it's still there & working while I'm away this week.

Saw some coverage on BBC News 24 where Alan is talking to the crowd at BBC TV Centre and Jeremy Bowen was standing next to Sophie Raworth. And I thought, that's the Breakfast dream team! Those were the days.

He might have done a voiceover and used some clips but I'm sure he was in London today. I also saw Alen Yentob in the crowd.

Oh yeah and on the day of his release he only goes and wins an award from Amnesty!! Very Happy

Jeremy is live on the 10 tonight so it was definitely him.

I THINK (not sure) that Paxman's doing Newsnight tonight. Should be interesting to see how he handles the story.
