Clare Balding held up a poster and took a minute silence at Royal Ascot as well.

What made this event all the more poignant to me was after seeing the video speech by him filmed by his captors. Very distressing.

Lets for God sake hope Alan is released soon and safe.

The guy on the right it Stephen Sackur presents HARDtalk on BBC World and News 24.

Here's what happened for all that missed it.

Hope Alan's free soon - have we heard anything about this ultimatum from Monday from Hamas yet?

And BBC World - their own correspondent gets kidnapped and vigils are held and they go to an ads break. How bloody stupid.

It was only a break in the Asia Pacific region, I don't think they could of stopped it, AFAIK they are automatic.

Mishal Husain just apologised on BBC World to the viewers who didn't get to see the vigil because of a 'technical problem' so the aired it again.

That's the newsroom, it'll just be news staff.

You couldn't fit everyone in TV Centre in there, if you ever see the courtyard when they have a fairedrill, you'd be surprised how many people work in there

Incredible images, you can hear the relief in his colleagues voices in the studio.

From a TV perspective the overnight crew are being stretched, quite a emotionally and technically challenging story for them. Thought it was odd that the TOTH completely crashed, obviously had something on their mind! Great news!

EDIT: BBC One has scrapped the sign zone for continuing coverage.
