I really like tho logo, the music, and the "every angle and every side... AlJazeera". I have great expectations... when do I have to tune in to see the first broadcast?

Isn't the logo the same as the Al Jazeera arabic service - with the addition of a sans serif roman ALJAZEERA underneath?
Not sure if the music is just a "barker production track" or an indication of their on-air sound. The fact that the barker is just a promo, with no real content may mean they're keeping us waiting to see what it REALLY looks like.
I wonder which territory will be the first to get it in HD - it is the first global news channel to be originated (at least in studio terms) in HD - though I don't know if London, Washington and KL are HD as well as Doha. Be interesting to see how they handle Washington (4:3 525, 16:9 525, 16:9 1080/60, 16:9 1080/50?) - as London, Doha and KL are all 50Hz regions i believe, whilst Washington is in a 60Hz region...

My understanding is that the entire global service will be HD (ie: all four broadcast centres), although which format of HD, I don't know.
Have just seen the short promo for Al Jazeera International on Hotbird (11.034 V 27500 3/4)... it's in 16:9 and if the music isn't composed by David Lowe it should have been.
Edit: It's also on Astra2 11.681 V 27500 3/4 and is labelled AJI on a Sky Digibox.
One version is being voiced by Felicity Barr, and the other version, which features more faces of the channel, including Sir David Frost, is voiced by former CNN International and BBC World Service Television anchor, Riz Khan.

Yep - thought it was Riz doing the voice over for one. They're very similar - but one has shots of Rageh, Shahnaz, Riz and Sir David over the current affairs sequence (what a very BBC bunch!)

I suspect it will be 1080i - though I would be very surprised if Washington ran at 50Hz rather than 60Hz - as all the US material will be 60Hz (and upconversion from 480/60i to 1080/60i is much easier than conversion from 480/60i to 1080/50i)
Probably easier to run Washington as 1080/60i and just convert the output back to Doha to 1080/50i.
I think KL, Doha and London are all in 50Hz territories - so sensible to run them 1080/50i.
I'd be surprised if they ran 720p (until recently 720=Panasonic/JVC and 1080=Sony) - though it is possible.
