Al Jazeera English from The Shard

Usually London airs from 7-11pm UK Time.

I think someone's looked out the window and noticed the skyline they've got and want to make advantage of the studio

Years ago the sports bulletins were done from London in the news hours every evening, then they got moved to Doha

Since broadcasting from the Shard and until this week, only four hours would originate from London. Before the move and hiatus, the London bulletins would start earlier than 7pm UKT (4pm or 5pm).
Before the move and hiatus, the two Newshours during that 7 or 8 hour block were jointly presented from London and Doha. This reminds me of when AJE used to do this. Too bad those days are gone.

Tangentially related and equally nostalgic, does anyone remember when they did a whole sports program called Sportsworld? I didn't care for it and was glad when they got rid of it, though it did have a cool open and a nice, rare presentation point on the newsroom balcony:

Broadcasting again earlier then normal from London on the weekend. This seems to be a new thing for the channel.

I was thinking that they could be trying to extend the hours slowly to a full 24 hour operation from London while they give a makeover to the Doha set matching London's?

Doubt it. They're taking advantage of the later sunset. And why wouldn't they broadcast earlier from London on a weekend? The schedule stays the same on a weekend... Correct me if I'm wrong though..

Yes, the allocation of time for each broadcast centre stays the same on weekends.
Also, AJE does not adjust its schedule for daylight savings (which is pointless) unlike CNN or the BBC.

Is listening post now coming from London? and as such a new set?

I think the Listening Post has come from London since the move to the new set a few months ago, however don't quote me on that

Its been give a brand new look replacing the old look from 2006. only lasted 9 years
