Oh interesting. She was always one of the favorites at CNNI World Weather. She did mostly the European morning/Atlanta graveyard shift for, what, more than a decade until she was pushed out along with all the other CNNI old timers. I hadn't heard anything about her for years, so it's great to see her on TV again.

I noticed that AJ Arabic was using the London studio for a paper review show a few days back. The presenter and guest were sat at the anchor desk, but the guest appeared to have a diffeent backdrop. A view of Canary Wharf through the windows. I’m guessing he must have been sat infront of a screen displaying an alternate view?
Didn’t AJE move out of the Petronas Towers some time ago? I always thought the Kuala Lumpur output was the best out of the regional AJE centres.
Very early on, yes. DC lasted a bit longer, although they stayed in their building for a while.
I understand that having a broadcast centre in a very tall building caused a few logistical issues, ones that they either forgot about or don't have in The Shard!

Care to elaborate? I take it involves noise reverberations and low ceiling clearances among others. From what I’ve heard of people at 30 Rock is that when there’s a musical performance either on the Tonight Show, Late Night or Saturday Night Live the sound can be heard through out the building. The sound is apparently so loud that Late Night with Seth Meyers can’t begin filming until the Tonight Show is over - the studios are on top of each other. I think they schedule musical performances after regular business hours. I don’t think it’s as big as a problem for the NBC News division as MSNBC’s 3A, Nightly News and WNBC are on the third floor - three floors below and the same goes for Studio 4E which is two floors (I’m not sure if 4E is part of the “studio block” of the complex).
Back to Al Jazeera English weren’t they HD from the start?
