It would seem that there is something going on with the Doha studio too. For the past week or so the TOTH pans have been very tightly framed on the set (desk/newswall) - we haven't seen the newsroom at all.
A Broadcast article did mention that AJE are updating their systems so maybe they are just replacing computers as opposed to changing the look of the newsroom, but we shall see.

Or is Doha also getting a new London-style linear newsdesk???
Agreed. Slightly annoyed that they haven't exploited the natural skyline more and attempted greater sweeping shots, etc.Feels a little under used at present.
I agree with others, the set is stunning. It's a shame they they're not using the skyline view but i assume it won't look too great during winter. Highly unlikely but maybe the desk rostrum can rotate to have the desk facing the widow?
I'm not sure the view is actually that good from there
I thought this was interesting:
Quote:
Given that The Shard is 87 stories and 308m high, and 95 per cent owned by the Emir of Qatar, Al-Jazeera could have picked a much higher vantage point.
Anil Chaman, Al Jazeera’s Technology Manager for Europe, told The Independent that the 16th floor was picked after lengthy experiments in the empty building using time-lapse cameras to show London views at different times of day. A lower floor would not have captured the skyline, while a higher one would have ruined the perspective, he said.
“The 16th floor gave us the most natural backdrop of London views,” he added.
'The most natural backdrop of London views'... That's other office buildings.
What I was getting at is that although it has a great general view, it's very anonymous. Because of the position and the surrounding buildings there are very few recognisable landmarks that can be seen.
For example, the highest towers in the City can be seen, but iirc the Gherkin is obscured (by that new walkie-talkie tower I think). Tower Bridge is mostly hidden as is The London Eye.
The 16th floor is the highest office floor so even considering the ownership of the building it's unlikely they'd have got higher.
Of course AJE in KL was initially in the Petronas Towers. Not only did they have all the complications that come from being in a skyscraper, but the view out the window wasn't worth using... There's nothing else that high and it's usually too hazy.
