Let's hope they can make some changes to AJAM. They've switched strategies so many times, and it's become so inconsistent that I can't say that I watch it very much. The domestic output has been reduced in scope and content so much that it's not a compelling broadcast, and the only thing of value that's on the network are the AJE simulcasts.

Also, I'm somewhat surprised this flew under the radar (though perhaps this shows us how few people really watch AJAM), but after a few weeks of decamping to the Newseum, Inside Story launched a new look and new set last week. I'm pretty sure this must have replaced the old, dismantled AJE Washington set for good. So that leaves Doha as the last of the 2006 Jago design.

I'm not sure if The Stream is using this set as well. Is it even still on the air? I'm not usually around in the afternoon, and AJ's online strategy is so terrible that I can't really even tell by their website.

Title card from last week. This week, they added more blue into it so that it's not so dark.

That set would suit ITV News brilliantly, just remove the round desk, and put in their usual desk and platform. Something nice and real for a change.

New show in the works: Third Rail, a weekly politics debate program with Imran Garda. Judging by the promo, it looks pretty exciting. I was always a fan of his since the AJE days, and I wasn't really sure what he was doing at AJ+ for the last few months. It premieres Sunday.

Al Jazeera which exposes abuses around the world never covers the one in their own backyard!

Kamahl Santamaria posted this image on Twitter on May 7. It shows the new HQ for AlJazeera Arabic. I can't seem to find any further information on it apart from this tweet, sadly.

I assume this ties in with a series of renders on Flint Skallen's website (They designed the current set for AJA)

It'll be interesting to see more.

More anchor switches: As Richelle Carey has been anchoring in AJE from Doha, Barbara Serra is co-anchoring from New York tonight on AJAM along with Antonio Mora. It's most definitely interesting.

Richelle Carey used to be at CNN HLN before it went nuts. I think she would have been a better fit at CNN international than the awful Zain Asher. She is horrible. Wooden and plastic. CNNI's loss is AJAM/AJE's gain.

This picture makes me think why is this studio only used a few hours a day Mad

Well the plan was, and I suppose still is, for it to be home to a UK version of AJ which would see it being on air a lot longer every day. Are they still doing extra hours for the technical upgrade?

Still seven hours from London. 1600 - 2300 GMT.
It makes me wonder if such a view would have been possible in Kuala Lumpur from the Petronas Towers if they were able to choose any floor they wanted.

Apparently the problem with their old KL office was that a window view wasn't actually that great whatever floor that they were on (IIRC they were on the 60th).

Firstly it's often very misty and secondly there's nothing really to see out of the windows - the most famous building in the city is the one they were in!
