Dalal is presenting the Europe news summary from London on the Newshour, so I presume she will be anchoring the main London bulletins tonight.
I have to agree with Jonathan though. Dalal's presenting style is very professional, and I read she has presented on the BBC World Service, and was a editor and anchor for the Arab News Network. She should definitely be used more.

I think she has a very pleasant voice and is a no-nonsense presenter. She can be a little patronising to guests she is interviewing though.

As I said yesterday, they can't quite seem to get the London background right. At the 10pm hour the background showed a light daytime Westminster, in just 9 minutes though, its changed to the night time one, amazing how the sun sets so quickly Rolling Eyes

You think that is bad? The other day, the intro graphics played, then we were given a side shot of the London studio with the daytime Westminster background. Then we went to the front view camera angle and the backdrop changes to a scorched to the earth Gaza. It was very misleading, with the Houses of Parliament morphing into burnt out rubble.

I have just noticed that the generic newswall background, with the 3d map has been replaced. The yellow has now been replaced with a light blue colour, while the 'sea' is a darker blue, yellow lines move across occasionally. So, little under a year and the first graphical change!

Like all TV channels and programmes they would have been tweaking graphics continually since before they launched. That's the thing about graphics as they're all on computer they're very easy to change.

Just stumbled upon this promo on YouTube, promoting the Aljazeera Newshour, I have to say, they make some top notch promos, dont think I've seen anything quite so good from the BBC/ITV/Sky for a few years!

The way AlJazeera covered President Ahmadinejad's speech at the UN once again proved the channel is able to provide excellent coverage and analysis of important events.
I was following the speech on BBCWorld when, after less the 15mins from the beginning of the coverage, the BBC chose that the 2115 edition of World Business Report is too important to be scrapped and cut the speech postponing any comment by 45 minutes.
On the contrary AlJazeera showed the whole speech and gave us an interesting and detailed analysis with guests and correspondents in London, NewYork and Teheran. Very pleasant to watch.

They can record it without broadcasting it!

Err - that would need two galleries to be staffed and operated simultaneously.

One to carry the live coverage, the other to record World Business Report.

World Business Report is recorded live at 2215BST then repeated a few times and cut in half.
