Interesting my old pal Michael Winner is in broad agreement with my argument that the news is best read by good-looking women.

As a general guideline I'd say mid-thirties is about the right cut-off point for women especially those reading the news at around 6pm because to be honest at that time they should be at home doing their kids' homework and providing a healthy and nutritious meal for their family.

Well, it seems you and Winner share much in common.

My derision, largely.

Gav Baby - you are SO intolerant.
Can't someone have a different view to you without being the subject of abuse.
It should be a banning offence. Laughing

I had no idea you were such a delicate little flower. And here was me thinking you were nothing more than a chauvinistic piggy like your pal Michael Winner.

Every day's a schoolday.

Jumping to conclusions again Gav Baby - the first sign of the intolerant and smug.

unlike say someone who demands newsreaders retire age 30 because he doesn't want to look at wrinkles?

I think you'll find I said mid-thirties although I could push this to 40 if make-up do a good job and the lightning is tweaked.
You've got to draw the line somewhere otherwise we'll have Hyacinth Bucket doing a live two-way from the floor of a bullet-ridden old people's home in Baghdad.

No, that all sounds very reasonable to me.

In a similar vein, one assumes you'll be trading up Mrs Guru; should the day come where she turns into a hatchet faced old biffer?

I would if she had to read the news but the gloriously good-looking Mrs Showbizguru merely has to cater for my every whim and for that she is rewarded with being a very rich wife.
We both agree though that in another 10 years or so cosmetic surgery could be an option but naturally this would be entirely her choice.

Why wait?

If you got that supercilious look scraped off your face, perhaps your conjugal allowance may increase to, say, twice a week?

Heh,heh, heh ... along comes someone to disturb your cosy little world because they express views which might not just be a cut and paste job from GuardianOnline like yours and the howls of anguish rise up.
Perhaps if I said " Four legs bad,two legs good " it could make you happy.
Let me express my original point and-I-will-do-it-very-very-slowly.
I don't care for my news to be delivered by older women and much prefer good-looking intelligent totty to read the autocue.
There, now, that wasn't too difficult to understand was it ? Rolling Eyes

Aside from the mangled punctuation, no. Not one bit.

Not a bother Gav Baby.
By the way - haven't you heard of spelling and apostrophes ?
Remember your original post ? Oh dear.

I don't want to make presumptions about your personal life, but some men prefer their news (and lots of other things) delivery by young tottie. Provided their news, entertainment or meal is delivered as it should be, they would prefer to see a young thing delivering it.

Yes, its a sad state of affairs but that's the way the world turns.

Besides, as Victoria Wood sang, "I could be too cold, I could be too hot, I could be permanently knackered like Selina Scott, I could!"

So, its not just the men folk who feel that way. Rolling Eyes
