To be honest I miss old Moira Stuart.
She was a game old bird - always did the Christmas Day shift for as long as I can remember and you felt sorry for her because you knew she didn't have a fella and would be eating the dried-up BBC turkey and stuffing between bulletins.
Wasn't particularly ugly or bad or good.
Just always there.
A bit like John Craven.Although I'm glad he's been shunted into oblivion. There was one person promoted far beyond his talent.
And he wore pullovers on television long after even Peter Purves recognised they'd had their day.
I like ageism in TV - it's nature's way of culling the mediocre and making way for the new talent.

Judging from where you credit it is from, and the fact it looks like him, I'd say that's Martin Popplewell. As for where he is no idea, other than a beach.
And here he is presenting five news for comparison:

A bit like John Craven.Although I'm glad he's been shunted into oblivion.
Shunted into oblivion? I'd hardly call 20 years of British telly's foremost rural/argicultural affairs show, "oblivion"?
AIUI Countryfile still gets relatively good ratings for its Sunday morning slot. Part of that reason is because JC is a great broadcaster, in my view. And let's not forget he created Newsround -- which is no lean achievement.

When I said shunted into oblivion I meant Sunday morning television which is only ever watched by security guards and people too drunk to go to bed after staying up all night.
Does anyone ever remember the last time they watched television on a Sunday morning and if you do you should be ashamed of yourselves.
Sunday mornings are for cooked breakfasts and wives fulfilling their conjugal obligations - not watching faded children's television presenters talking about crop rotation and pigswill.

So no room for political discussion or Championship football on a Sunday?
Some of us don't like to waste a day, regardless of how much they have drunk the night before.

So rather than waste a day you get up on a Sunday to watch television
Right.I see.
Myself,I prefer breakfast in bed and chasing the missus round the four poster but each to their own I suppose.
Must admit - watching John Craven isn't high up my list of priorities.
