Only if you watch channel 24 hours a day!
Not necessarily so. cortomaltese makes a good point. The majority of viewers will tune in either during a news bulletin, programme or commercial break. Therefore, they will know what's coming up next due to the news presenter (who now tells the viewer on two occasions what is coming up) or the breakfiller. The odds on a viewer tuning in at the precise moment between the end of the breakfiller and the channel ident, and thus not knowing what is coming up, is pretty slim. So, continuity announcements may not be needed now. After all, the listings are also published on the BBC World website and on Ceefax. Couple those with the news presenter and breakfiller and I think programmes are pretty well promoted on BBC World.
It will be very interesting as to whether Adrian's announcements are ditched. I don't know exactly when his contract with the BBC ends and CNN begins, so there's still time for it to happen yet. Do the rights to his announcements lie with Adrian himself or with the BBC?

Plus, on satellite television I can see the schedule of each channel for the following 12 hours as soon as I tune in... I don't think Italy is the only place where this service is available.
In my opinion continuity announcements just make the channel a little bit more disjointed, not to mention the fact that the colours of the logo used during the announcements don't match with the colours of the titles anymore.

I don't think anyone else has mentioned this, but Adrian Finighan has now started at CNN. I saw him do World Business This Week, which likely means he was hosting World Business Today for at least some period of time last week.
Meanwhile, for those keeping track of presenters, Anjali Rao has also started at CNN, hosting CNN Today (Asia) this morning.

Well, I caught the end of World Business This Week just before CNN Today started at 10am this morning. World Business Today and World News Europe are on from 6.30-8.30am, and I'm guessing he'll be doing either one of those programmes since he hasn't been on CNN Today Europe or Business International today.

I have only managed to watch CNN once in the last three weeks and have so far only spotted Adrian once, at the London Stock Exchange, with Richard Quest back in the studio. Look forward to seeing him involved in more of CNN's output in the future.
I note that Fiounalla Sweeney is presently in Israel - who is filling in for her back in London on WNE?
