"It's goodnight from him" is a reference to The Two Ronnies:
Quote:
the closing item in every show was a further selection of spoof news items, back at the desks, which would end with Corbett bidding the audience 'goodnight from me', to which Barker would add 'and it's goodnight from him'.

Rather than Goodbye, I will just say Au Revoir..............because we know he's coming back soon.
Adrian was one of the things that made BBC World a very watchable news channel for me over the years - I trust that he will bring the same enjoyment and style to CNN International.
His farewell from World was a sad occasion - I can't believe he's been there for ten years!
Cheers Adrian - it was a pleasure to hear your voice on a daily basis for almost all of those ten years.

It is a shame that Adrian is leaving BBC World because, as BBC WORLD said, he was the main presenter who made the channel watchable. There will be a big void left by his departure. However, in a sense, I'm pleased that Adrian is moving on - hopefully CNN will treat him better than the BBC did. I can't believe that after 10 years of loyal service to BBC World, he still didn't have a weekday shift to call his own. The closest he got was while Mishal Husain was in Washington but as soon as she returned to London, he was kicked off. So, I hope CNN give him a proper, regular shift to match what a good presenter he is. I look forward to watching him.

Isha is another one who is very good. Enjoyed her bulletins on CNNI on Christmas Day.

I totally agree with you there, He deserved a weekday shift to call his own, but in the 10 years with them, he didnt. Its a shame really.

I believe that Adrian did the majority of continuity announcements on BBC World - except for some special ones here and there. Does anyone know if they will keep using his generic announcements or if they will scrap them all and use a new voice to do them all?
If anyone is watching BBC World today, perhaps they could let me know if his voice is still booming out.
One of my favourite opening phrases, that Adrian used during big news days was...
"This is a BBC News Special broadcasting on BBC News 24 in the United Kingdom and on BBC World around the globe..." Only Adrian, Lyse Doucet and Jon Sopel can ever pull that one of successfully in my opinion. They have all used it and have all done it justice - especially Lyse and Jon when they were covering the Tsunami. They all add their own very special gravitas to it.

Yes his voice is still booming on BBC World, and its done so perfectly and clear and all the good things that can come out of someones voice!
If they do decide to scrap his voice, I wouldnt mind hearing Peter Dobbie's (is that his name?) voice, Its just as warm and welcoming.

Does the channel really need continuity announcements? I mean, you always know what programme is coming next...
