I know that ABC1 was free and Disney Channel is now free - I was trying to make a point in a sarcastic way. It was obviously lost.

what's the point?

No in the uk watches the **** USA news and it spin, I stick with BBC and ITN

also there failed with ABC1 what chance do their got with news!

Many people watch the US news in the UK. I often catch ABC/NBC news when there is a story of significant international interest, it's useful to see an alternative perspective.

As has been said, CNN is the International (read less interesting) channel; CNBC is a business network and again is International and Fox is just... well... Fox really. 'Nuff said.

A welcome addition IMO.

Is Disney Channel now totally free - I thought it was just no longer premium? Can you get it without a card or with a FTV card?

So will this spell the end of World News with Charles Gibson on BBC News 24

Don't see why it would... ABC and the BBC are still global news partners - and ABC News Now isn't a competitor to BBC News 24 is it?

ABC1 was never free. Disney Channel is not free, nor were they FTV. If neither of them were on my FTA satellite reciever I just make the assumption that they weren't free.

I shouldn't think so until it's launched.

What I mean is that News 24 is essentially a TV channel - watched on a TV. ABC News Now is, AIUI, essentially a high-quality IPTV service watched on a PC, rather than a broadcast channel carried on a TV platform (like satellite, cable, freeview etc.)

I know News 24 is also now streamed as IPTV but this is more niche than core?

Think more accurate to say ABC1 was never free-to-air on satellite. It was free-to-air on Freeview.
