Not really news, but for the September 11th anniversary, I think it'd be interesting to see the BBC's coverage broadcast as a whole again, much like they did for the elections. It'd be interesting viewing, seeing as what we knew now and then, is perhaps completely different.
They did repeat a few hours of the News 24 coverage on BBC Choice on the first anniversary. It was quite heavily edited though, plus they'd put music in the background and IIRC removed much of the on screen graphics to avoid people switching on and thinking America was under attack again. From what I remember, most of the studio sequences had been edited out other than the initial breaking news reports (into Business Today from what I remember).
I'm not sure any broadcaster wants to show a replay of their broadcast as it happened, as there was so much wrong information and speculation flying around that day.
CNN did this on their Pipeline service for the fifth anniversary (IIRC). There were gaps every now and then during the time it took the staff to replace tapes in their recorders, and these gaps were left in so that the footage would be shown in real-time, five years later to the minute.

One of the reasons the New York was targeted was because the terrorists wanted to ensure maximum media coverage.
By repeating the horrific events over and over again, are the media not playing into their hands ?
In my opinion is footage of the atrocity should be used very sparingly, I really don't think it's very good taste to keep repeating the sight of 3000 people losing their lives, it's voyeurism. Is there really anything useful to be gained, by dragging out the footage every September ?

The graphics wouldn't have been recorded in the first place. All news broadcasters record their bulletins 'clean' so that they can reuse bits. There's little need for captions, tickers, bugs etc and if there is they can just be put back on afterwards
I've always wanted to see how News 24 first broke it again - it was in the middle of business from the 2nd set wasn't it. Never been able to find it on YouTube.
