They've not been seen for a wee while now (as mentioned earlier in this thread) - and I'd noticed the programme getting a bit less news-y and a bit more entertainment-y over the last couple of weeks.
Things I've spotted so far: sofas instead of swivel chairs, a new glass coffee table instead of that plasma screen, and some 7-less graphics (we've got some day-themed ones instead)
Plus Paddy's in for the next fortnight, because Eddie's on holiday.
I missed it tonight - are thses sofas like the chairs - anyone have any caps?

Looks like it - and no opening titles!

Hmm.. those sofas, while they make for some entertaining chat, aren't particularly flattering.
The three big screens in the studio have been moved around a bit, and the oodles of plasmas aren't in shot quite as much. Looks quite nice, though.
I don't think I'm all that keen on the fluffier news agenda, though - there has been some interesting stuff going on today, but it doesn't look like I'll be able to find out what's been going on in the world from this programme. It might just be a try-out, but I'm inclined to think that it's the direction they'll be going down.
Ah well, it was nice while it lasted.

It definitely felt more like Liquid News. It amused me the way it seems to now just be called "News", and the way Paddy was talking about the uncomfortable sofas borrowed from the channel controller's office, and that all digital channels were poor value for money and should be shut down!
I did enjoy it, but it definitely was not the 7 O'clock News at a different time - so much so that "News" seemed a somewhat inappropriate title for it, to me. Hopefully much of what we saw today (the title, the sofas etc) was just temporary. Not sure what to make of the agenda, although it definitely seems to me to fit better on BBC Three - it'll probably have more appeal to the "target audience". But if this is what they're going to stick with, I reckon it would be better to just bring back Liquid News, and add in some hard news as well rather than just entertainment. That's where this is heading.

I agree, I've mailed BBC3 News saying pretty much the same thing. If the headlining story is Michael Jackson, the show will have been watered down.

I think the "Old 7" led on Jacko quite a few times - it is a big story for the BBC Three audience, and a big story that the other bulletins are covering, though less consistently.
I suspect there will be more "hard news" on harder news days - today had a particularly entertainment led feel because there were two entertainment news stories running (Jackson and BAFTA), and there was a long package on Popbitch.
I think the main aim of the show is to avoid the "sticking out" bits of the old 7, when you got a News 24 style down-the-line interview, or a report lifted from the Six (and jazzed up a bit)
It'll be interesting to see the programme on big news days - wonder how the Pope dying would be covered on the new look show.

I wouldn't have thought they'd scrap everything, the old format helped increase ratings (which they aren't chasing for), and I'd have thought it might go against their remit?? But like you say, it's only been 1 day. If the show is watered down permenantley (wrong spelling I know - apologies) they'd be wasting a huge chunk of their annual budget.

Why do you think ratings aren't important for BBC Three programmes? One of the reasons giving for stopping Liquid News was a lack of viewers.

I think a key reason LN was axed was the sizable chunk it was taking out of the annual budget. Ratings were actually going up, and no one expected it to be killed off, but the bods upstairs decided it was time to move onto something new.
I only mentioned ratings as I thought th Beeb were recently told to stop chasing them?
