Just thought I'd mention, the BBC apologised for what 'Simon Grant' said in an email.
I apologise for the remark that Simon Grant, one of our CBBC presenters, made on 1 November in regards to the Queen's hat. It was unnecessary and quite out of keeping with the tone which had been established by the preceding Memorial Service.
Simon's remark was unplanned and unrehearsed. It was an ad lib which he came up with when we went live, and a mistake which he now greatly regrets.
It was the task of our presenters to host CBBC programmes for the afternoon, and to do that they needed to make a transition from the very moving ceremony that had just taken place and introduce the following Bugs Bunny cartoon. In this context Simon was trying to be light-hearted, but the comment was completely the wrong approach to take and Simon understands this.
I've had a full debrief with Simon and our studio production team - everyone is
aware that this is a serious matter and must not happen again. Simon is very,
very sorry for any offence that he's caused, and I apologise once more on behalf of CBBC.

Yes I heard that! Something along the lines of "we have something later more interesting than what's in the Queen's silly hat"
Even Angelica (is it?) was surprised!

I should hope he is sorry. He really ought to be fired, in my opinion. Surely anyone with half a brain could tell that that was an incredibly insensitive and stupid comment, after the very solemn ceremony of the memorial service.

Oh come on, he on Blue Peter, I'm frankly impressed he didn't say more... For legal reasons the following section can not be posted by lets just say Richard Bacon.

I think that's a bit harsh. Simon is a tallented presenter and it's easy to say something in the heat of the moment, we're all only human, after all...
