Call me cynical, but todays coverage has been way OTT.

I don't ever recall television channels dedicating so many hours of faux rue. What exactly are they gaining?

During the 30 years of the IRA bombings throughout the UK and the countless fatalities those terrorists caused, television networks never devoted so much time to the dead.

It's just a case of the networks copying the US style of going totally OTT.

The London bombings happend. And yes, the anniversary should be remembered - but the manic way and completely false sense of grief portrayed by the news organisations is probably the most sickening bit.

How much more airtime are the western networks going to devote to muslim extremists and reminding us constantly that we're going to be attacked again. There's no evidence of that, it's just the various western governments and media outlets wanting to create a sense of overwhelming fear.

I don't live in London (thank god), and yes I'm very sorry for the victims - but please give it a rest BBC, ITV, Sky etc. It's so boring now.

In a polite way, I agree with some of what you're saying. The events could have been a lot worse, but still, I think everyone is still numbed from last year.

OT but was that the Acrobats ident music (or a remix thereof) on that trailer preceding the news special?

Nah, it was Rob Dougan - Clubbed to Death (mostly remembered for being in The Matrix)

Thanks for clearing that one up Smile

I have to agree there, the coverage is at satuation point, don't get me wrong it's sad what happened and I would never want to see the likes again, but you just have to get on with life and don't let this cr*p bother you. I have to agree with the IRA point, they caused far more attrocities from the 70's to the 90's, but we got on with it and didn't mark and reflect every little thing.

Plus it happened in London, not across England/UK, it shouldn't be ignored, but it's gone OTT for me not to care that much as bad as it sounds. Maybe if I lived nearer to London or who had a friend or relative affected by the Bombings then I would probably speak differently.

Warrington (my home town) was hit by the IRA back in 1993, but we get on with life and usually recieves little press coverage, though it's impact to peace in Northern Ireland was surely nothing but positive? Though it wasn't the main reason for ongoing Peace, it did help to change people's attitudes.

Anyway, it's a Metropol issue, and I kept to Local News yesterday as it was doing my head in.

Really poor result of a junction that was so important. Wonder where the blame lies?

I'm sorry but that is just quite simply ridiculous.

This type of thing is now happening with increasing regularity. Really don't want to hear some smug industry bod coming on here and telling us that these things happen, computers crash and that it's only TV.
As I understand it, it was caused by human error, both at the BBC and Red Bee, followed by the automation thinking it knew best.

Some coverage was a bit OTT, but I really liked the way the ITV Evening News ended last night, with pictures of all the victims, accompanied by silence.

Slightly off topic, but it is a year as well since Birmingham City Centre got evacuated as well!

(And the city's various media outlets had to evacuate as well, with varying degrees of success !)

I think the coverage was very well done on all channels. I like how both ITV News and BBC News have followed a survivor and how they are rebuilding their lives. I for one know what it is like to have to learn to walk again using prosthetics, and the people featured in the reports are very brave to allow the world to see their recovery. Good luck to everyone who is having to rebuild their lives after 7/7.

If there's a problem with technical infrastructure or training or whatever, someone somewhere needs to get their arse into gear and get this sorted once and for all.

I thought we'd seen an end to all this on BBC One/Two/Three/Four but years after this technology has been introduced we're still seeing cock-ups like this.

An organisation is being paid to provide a service here. It's difficult to find a day on TV Forum where there hasn't been a cock-up concerning presentation links on one of the main BBC TV networks.

Don't you get the feeling today was deliberately chosen to announce huge pay rises for the BBC's most senior executives? When the government does this they call it "burying bad news".

That cash would be much better spent sorting out Pres - and many other things the VIEWER can benefit from.

I'd say about 90% of viewers aren't too bothered about presentation really.

ITV1 did indeed bring out their sombre ident (for the first time?) this morning. Did STV have something similar?

Same as the breakbumper pretty much - the "1" slides out from the "ITV" with the yellow beam of light slowly moving around at the bottom. No music.
