Oh and well done to BBC Northern Ireland who managed to cover up all that chaos from Network. The Ballet ident ran a little longer, compensating for the delay in London. And whatever source they took, I don't think Cash In The Attic came in over our pictures either.

Really poor result of a junction that was so important. Wonder where the blame lies?

OT but was that the Acrobats ident music (or a remix thereof) on that trailer preceding the news special?

Why Cash in the Attic was anywhere near being played out at that moment I don't know, and why they left it running for 10 seconds is a disgrace

It would have been on the system and available for transmission as it was the programme on air after the silence. There would probably have been one event between the end of the silence and the start of CITA

Looks to me like it wouldn't go from the ident to the silence so the director hit take several times to try and get it to take, which it did several times right past the silence and onto the next programme (a bit like when your computer hangs and it buffers up all your key presses)

No that's an actual song whose name currently escapes me. E4 used it for their Acrobats parody bumper so you're right it's very similar. Used to be used for a BBC Weather promo too IIRC.

If there's a problem with technical infrastructure or training or whatever, someone somewhere needs to get their arse into gear and get this sorted once and for all.

I thought we'd seen an end to all this on BBC One/Two/Three/Four but years after this technology has been introduced we're still seeing cock-ups like this.

An organisation is being paid to provide a service here. It's difficult to find a day on TV Forum where there hasn't been a cock-up concerning presentation links on one of the main BBC TV networks.

Don't you get the feeling today was deliberately chosen to announce huge pay rises for the BBC's most senior executives? When the government does this they call it "burying bad news".

That cash would be much better spent sorting out Pres - and many other things the VIEWER can benefit from.

Simon, when the hell will you get off your horse?

I've just heard the names of everyone who was killed being read out, accompanied by their pictures, and your comments are not only more pathetic than usual but highly irrelevant and, I would strongly suggest, totally wrong.

Nah, it was Rob Dougan - Clubbed to Death (mostly remembered for being in The Matrix)

Blimey, that was a few years ago!

I was just surprised it was anywhere being the next 'event'. I would have expected at least 4 trailers and an ident to be scheduled between the BBC News 24 simulcast, I mean BBC News Special, and Cash in the Attic

Very unusual to come off something like that with trails - it's usually:

Black (if deemed necessary)

TW
Time Warp
How did ITV2 & 3 and SSN carry the coverage? I assume they carried the ITV1 News Special and Sky News respectively?

But it would still have been there in the schedule and on the server. The '2 minutes silence' programme was less than 10 minutes in duration, even in the days of tape it would have been cued, checked and ready to go before the 'silence' started.
