News 24 have used the generic titles today, no headline thing scrolling... no thunderclaps after the countdown, plus many other differences... i suppose they thought they'd turn the graphics down a noth today then.

A nice ending to the One today.

Just shows that they CAN close the programme properly, they just choose NOT to do it.

Pity it was all fecked up by the huge crash at the beginning of the Look North titles.

What was the closing like? Was it the normal music with wide shot, or something else?

A montage of the silence cutting to a different image in sync with Big Ben's bongs. Final image lingers whislt the bells sustain and the BBC News and URL caption are supered on, centred-right as usual.

It was an effort getting into my course building today, the press are all over Kings Cross. I am still thankful my mum was late for work July 7th last year, if not she would have been on the train that exploaded at Kings Cross.

On a lighter note, the new ITN logo was on the white van parked in the sidestreet, I didnt notice any other branded vehicals however.

I saw an NBC one a bit further up. Also spotted Bill Turnbull on his crane at Kings Cross, and Kate Silverton in Tavistock Square (aswell as Jono and Jo from BBC London).

The ITV1 sombre ident will get a couple of outings on Sunday too, although ironically not today.

Presumably they're not going to run a viewer's countdown remix then!

I find this quite hypocritical. Either the standard graphics are acceptable on the news channel or they're not. If they can show them when other sombre news items occur I can't see the problem here.

I also depise the use of '7/7' to describe these attacks, sounds like a brand slogan, not necessary at all.

Major oops on BBC One.

Nice sombre announcement on top of Capoiera into the News Special. Ident freezes afer about 10 seconds, then a few seconds later, fade to black. Cut to News 24. Then a few seconds later, the start of Cash in the Attic.

Really poor result of a junction that was so important. Wonder where the blame lies?

Good lord, that's appalling. I'm mildly amused by the juxtaposition of Cash in the Attic and the sombre news scenes, cringing to say the least.

Almost identical to how ITV closed the Lunchtime News about a minute earlier.

Emily Maitlis, if it is she, deserves much credit for managing to keep it together during that (the Regent's Park service)

It should also, in my opinion, have gone out on BBC1, and preferably without the standard news graphics.

Indeed that is a cockup of immense proportions. Why Cash in the Attic was anywhere near being played out at that moment I don't know, and why they left it running for 10 seconds is a disgrace

I'm sorry but that is just quite simply ridiculous.

This type of thing is now happening with increasing regularity. Really don't want to hear some smug industry bod coming on here and telling us that these things happen, computers crash and that it's only TV. Don't want to hear any arguments about benefits of live announcers either.

If there's a problem with technical infrastructure or training or whatever, someone somewhere needs to get their arse into gear and get this sorted once and for all.

I thought we'd seen an end to all this on BBC One/Two/Three/Four but years after this technology has been introduced we're still seeing cock-ups like this.

An organisation is being paid to provide a service here. It's difficult to find a day on TV Forum where there hasn't been a cock-up concerning presentation links on one of the main BBC TV networks.
