The BBC have got quite a large section on the website dedicated to the annaversery. On there you can listen to Jon Gaunt show from BBC London 94.9 from the morning of the attacks.

And isn't he a mouthy arsehole until it gets serious.

ha yeah he is. I'm supprised that BBC London didnt pick up on the whole tube network closing as being more important than just travel news. I know hindsight and all but the entire tube network being closed down is a big story. I heard Five Live on the day and they seemed to pick up on the story quicker than Gaunt..

To the guy's credit though, he makes a conscious effort to avoid speculation and concentrate on what is actually known.

It hasn't been officially mentioned yet, but I'm assuming there'll be a two minutes silence at the AELTC on 7/7 before play begins at 12pm.

Yes, when some Radio and TV stations were talking about reports of multiple bus bombs amongst other things, the BBC were sticking to facts rather than speculation.

I remember listening to Jon Guant on the way into work that morning.... he did a great job (as did the other london stations I heard). A rare brilliant bit of broadcasting from guanty!

Five Live is better resourced. It's also worth remembering that BBC London (and the other London talk station, LBC) had a lot of staff in Singapore at the time covering London 2012

The local stations had the upper hand in terms of getting eye-witnesses both being geared up for phone-ins in the morning and people listening around the bomb areas. IIRC one of the first eye-witness reports from inside Kings Cross the on the Jon Gaunt recording is a member of BBC London staff who was caught up in it on the way in.

Walking into London with the radio on that morning I found that it was better to stick to one station and listen to it all the way through without flicking - there were too many conflicting stories and reports. It was better to follow the 'story' on one station

Five will probably just extend their 1130 bulletin a bit, I guess.
Five will be covering the two minute silence as will all of the other terrestrial networks. Also Sky One, two and three will go silent, as well as a variety of other channels.
Flextech's channels will be crossing to BBC News for the silence. (As, I'm guessing, will UKTV, as they did for Remembrance Sunday last year)

If IRN are doing the silence on their channel that carries the 90 second bulletins, what are they doing on the 180 service? A normal bulletin or will it be the same on both?

I've said this several times before here, but I still hate how it's branded "7/7" by the media!

ITV's special reports which were on this week are shown as 7th July 2005 - I think its the only news service calling it this, SKY and BBC are calling it 7/7

Major oops on BBC One.

Nice sombre announcement on top of Capoiera into the News Special. Ident freezes afer about 10 seconds, then a few seconds later, fade to black. Cut to News 24. Then a few seconds later, the start of Cash in the Attic.

Appears to be sorted now, though the EPG is incorrect.
