HTV Wales Wales Today
Well according to The Last Leg it is 65 years today since the first BBC News programme, with a 20 minute bulletin fronted by Richard Baker as the BBC phased out the newsreel service.

So Happy Birthday.
I preferred the internet when it had a sense of humour.

UTV Newsline
It was the first proper television news bulletin, however no in vision newsreader was allowed. That would not happen until September 1955, when the BBC found out the new ITV network would be having in vision newsreaders and so launched a spoiler attack on them earlier in September 1955.
