2020 Irish Election Thread

The RTE News Now app is having some streaming problems. Guess there's too much demand for the stream. There's also a special programme on RTE News Now, after the programme ends on RTE 1, for only an extra 15 minutes.

Tomorrow morning, both RTE 1 and RTE News Now are simulcasting an RTE Radio 1 Morning Ireland Election Special between 8am and 9am, before the election programme begins.

Fine Gael, Fianna Fáil and Sinn Féin are practically tied first according the the exit poll.

I just wish we could not have another hung Dail - why is it so hard for an Irish majority government?

With only 39 constituencies and 80 seats required for a majority, it is extremely hard for any party to get a majority.

Because of proportional representation. You rarely get majorities in the UK’s devolved legislatures either due to PR.

The problem here is who will team up with who to form a coalition government - any ideas?
