You guess - just as I'd guess considering it's only in the last few days they've significantly boosted their planned output that they probably didn't have plans for a large election set, so will concentrate on the news studio.

And a couple of years on still think this Virgin Media branding is a complete mess.

Also, not much guessing needed when they have only two television studios, compared to the 8 main studios and 2 sound stages RTE have at Donnybrook.

Virgin Media One, Two and Three has not really caught on in Ireland. TV3 was by no means not the most loved channel, but there was a feeling that it was right. Virgin Media is not an Irish name, yes TV3 was not exactly Irish, but it had a better feeling to it.

Simple usually works - and coming barely a year after the 3, 3e and Be3 revamp after they bought UTV Ireland just suggested they have a major identity crisis.

ITV had no interest in owning an Irish station, it was never their long term goal, they would have sold it off at some point, and Virgin Media came along at just the right time. Virgin Media had taken over the UPC cable company in Ireland and were determined to be the one cable company in Ireland, with cable television much more available in the republic, as it dates back to the early 1970s in some areas.

Virgin Media felt they could not keep UTV Ireland name, it just was never in their thinking, and with their purchase of TV3, it made sense to amalgamate them all together into one network under the Virgin Media name.

A great looking set - This must be Studio 5 as Studio 3 would have no room for a job crane camera as seen here.

Yep this is studio 5, the home to RTE sport and most recently used for Bryan Dobson political leaders debates. This studio received a major upgrade last year with the installation of a LED wall and new lighting system. The revamped studio made its debut during the Rugby World Cup last September.

Is RTÉ streaming their results programme on the internet to everyone, or will it be geo-blocked?

I hope RTE have a robust OB connection throughout their coverage, as Storm Ciara will batter Ireland and the the UK tomorrow - hope their coverage will not be affected too badly tomorrow.

Interesting to see that BBC Parliament are not scheduled to broadcast any of RTE election coverage tomorrow according to their official schedules.
