Some Scottish MSP's are praising Julie for the way she moderated the debate and saying that fellow broadcasters can learn from her. That's probably the only time I will agree with the SNP mind you...

Does anybody else not like the BBCs Election Branding, the simply yet in my opinion dated look of this years coverage?

ITV graphics for the election this year, so far, have been looking brilliant.

ITV's election graphics have been superior to the BBC for a while now.

Also, I note that tonight's programme was credited to "ITV News and Current Affairs", not ITN.

I assume Question Time is at Mediacity tonight as well? How many studios do they have there if the debate, the spin room and QT are all there at once?

Edit: and is The Agenda there as well?

Remember ITV and BBC both have studios in that building.

I assume News at Ten was on location too, though done as an OB rather than in any studio.

Re: graphics - agree, not a fan of the BBC's effort so far. Not seen much of ITV to be fair so can't comment. It's bloody UKIP though and the idiots voting for them not only messing up the long established five year old debating structure with their popularity but now also messing up the decades old colour scheme for elections.

I know nobody will be watching it but I'm finding The Agenda quite fresh and on point tonight. Question Time just seems a bit dated and 'same old same old' this week after the leaders debate.

Regarding the use of the ITV branding tonight, I think it shows how things have changed in the last five years with regards to how ITV has gained confidence in its brand. I was at MediaCityUK last weekend and the branding of The Studios was particularly impressive and a lot bigger than it looks on screen.

How big an operation do ITV have at MediaCity - obviously they've got Corrie and Granada Reports, but is there much beyond that. I know a few ITV shows are filmed there (like Countdown) but I'm assuming they lease studio space rather than have studios of their own.

Iirc ITV share their block with Salford University. I think they have 4 floors on that block.

fresh and on point

That's reminded me how much I dislike the fresh usage of the phrase "on point".

It's a 6minute Newsnight panel stretched to 40 minutes

I think it was the same in 2010

There's a few floors in an office block, as well as ITV Granada and ITV Studios Manchester various corporate functions are there I believe, ones which were previously at Granada. Isn't CITV based there as well?

As said Corrie isn't there it's over the bridge, I'm surprised none of the helicopter shots didn't zoom out from the Corrie set to do some line about 'real life drama taking place tonight' or something.

Sky News lost the feed of the debate at about 8:30 for about five seconds. Did any other outlet lose the feed?
On the return the sound was much "fuller" for want of a better description, and I suspect it's a clean feed as I haven't seen any graphics at all on this for the last 15 minutes or so.

Yes, there was a switching error in Salford, which meant the feed being made available to other broadcasters included ITV captions (despite being advertised as clean). This was corrected at around 2030, hence the short outage. Not ideal …
