There's only really a handful of studios in this country that are distinctly recoginisable. Television Centre is by a long mile, of course. Granada's old studios were but only because of the imposing bright red sign(s) which was taken down shortly before they left. Pebble Mill because it was on screen so often perhaps, but visually it wasn't striking (like Granada). And all of these are old studios which are no longer used/exist.

I started watching it, but my wife said the moment someone mentions Jeremy Clarkson, then we're switching it off.
So, I didn't get to see more than about 6 minutes.
So after all that fuss just 2.7m watched last night on C4.

I've found it a soulless and bland place when I've visited.
Sky are proud of their Harlequin One building, and wanted to make it more of an event...

LOL. Would be interesting to see the ratings breakdown - I'd imagine David Cameron going first didn't do them any favours.

Thanks very much for posting - a very interesting watch.
For anyone interested, the BBC produced a 30minute programme showing how the the 2010 election debates were put together by the broadcasters from planning to the execution stage. Interesting watch, especially David Dimbleby rehearsing the BBC debate with a green screen in N9 at TVC.

This is was what the official Sky email alert stated. Obviously, it doesn't factor in the BBC News channel simulcast and/or online viewing.
What is interesting is the share of 16 to 24 year olds who watched it (especially with Sky News' current Stand Up, Be Counted campaign). I bet Skygeek's well chuffed about that.

Quote:

The live 90-minute programme was watched by an average audience of 2.6 million viewers (13% share of viewing) from 9-10.35pm on Channel 4 and a further 322,000 viewers (1.6% share of viewing) on Sky News. The programme also attracted the highest share of 16 to 34 year old viewers (20%) watching TV during the time it was on air.
