My votes for 2007:
National Presenter: HUW EDWARDS
>Huw remains a great anchorman as has not slipped or become robotic on a regular slot. He makes Trevor McDonald look like dated and stale.
Rolling News: ANNA BOTTING
>one of the few jewels of the clapped out European News Channel that is Sky News. She works well as a single anchorwoman who interviews properly and exudes gravitas and credibility.
Global: SHUILIE GHOSH
>missed on ITN but a great credible addition to Al Jazeera English.
Regional: CATRIONA SHEARER
>someone who I personally hope becomes the new Jackie Bird. A great communicator who does not seem aloof or over confident. Go Catriona Go Hen!!
Business: JULIETTE FOSTER
>I am delighted that BBC World has ensured Miss Foster does not fall in the scrap heap of Sky News leftovers. She is a great communicator who makes her subject appealing.
Most Improved Performer: SOPHIE RAWORTH
>I think she works well on her own and has ensured the One o'Clock News remains a top notch bulletin with gravitas. She has also not fell into the celebrity bandwagon that dogs her generation of newscasters.
Slipped a Little: FIONA BRUCE
>lost my vote of confidence by dressing like a prossie on Children In Need and I fear may be loosing her grip on the Ten bulletin. Emily Maitlis may nip in when she aint looking?
Hard as Nails: JON SNOW
>a tough cookie who has not lost his touch.
Best Newcomer: RANVIR SINGH
>a welcome addition to the BBC's regional offerings. I only wish my own region would give a younger female presenter such a big break in 2008.
Most Missed: ANNE MACKENZIE
>I now realise Anne is a freelancer and that she was inevitably one of the first victims of the BBC's downsizing. I only hope we do see her or hear her again - time will tell.
Best Newscast: BBC TEN O'CLOCK NEWS
>I am sure the relaunch of News of Ten is just an anti-climax. I am sure the BBC will reign supreme in the marathon.
Worst Newscasts: SKY NEWS (except when Anna Botting is on)
>this channel has hit the scrap heap and I cannot see it getting better in the new year. Anna B is one of the jewels though and I am just glad she seems in favour at the moment.
Best News Channel Overall: BBC
>while I was hacked off at their treatment of Moira, I still think they are miles ahead of any other channel.
Best Regional Programme: BBC NORTH WEST TONIGHT
>let's pray Reporting Scotland gets a new title sequence like this a good hybrid of new and old BBC opening sequences.
Overall 2007 Winner: MOIRA STUART
>she gets my vote because she left the BBC with dignity and did not head butt Helen Boaden or kick Mark Thompson in the balls. I hope that we do see Moira on the box soon though - perhaps on ITV or Five?
