I cannot believe I watched nearly all of it again, don't know about anyone else but didn't it look like the BBC ripped off the e you get on Internet Explorer programs?
Coverage was great though, although what happened to Huw Edwards, didn't know being the main anchor for BBC was that stressful!

Funny how some people have aged better than others. Time hasn't been so kind to Huw Edwards. Jon Sopel on the other hand doesn't look a day different, and David Dimbleby hasn't changed much in ten years either.

Still like the quirky things about the 97 coverage - Peter Snow's "battlefield" graphics, how well the results gfx have stood the test of time,.

Yes, the graphics on Peter Snow's board were excellent, probably better than their equivalents today.

In praise of ... BBC Parliament

Leader

Over the last few days the channel has ventured abroad, broadcasting the full French presidential debate with an English translation, and then live coverage of Sunday's election result from the French channel TF1. This morning it heads to Belfast to record the opening of the Northern Ireland assembly. Yesterday it filled a damp bank holiday Monday with a repeat of the BBC's 1997 election night coverage.

Well,

That's how Bank Holidays should be

roll on 1987, Three weeks to go.

A bit longer then three weeks...

five months infact - Oct 5th 2007.

EDIT: Oh yeah, by the way its not a bank holiday on Oct 5th.

Will BBC Parliament show the 2001 general election next? Isn't that the next one in order, 1992, 1997, 2001?

I love the coverage it is great to look back.

No, its cause its 10 years since the 1997 election, 15 years since the 1992 election and 20 years since the 1987 election. With the 2001 election being so boring I think its unlikely to be shown before 2011.

What with it also be 10 years since Diana's death in August, when parliament is on its summer holiday, are the beeb planning to show the full funeral broadcast, as they did on the 40th anniversary of Winston Churchill's death Confused:
