Top Up Fees? Illegal war? People dying because they've been in hospital?

Tony Blair is a liar.

Thatcher decreased university funding, supported the Iraq war and cut healthcare spending!

I'm sure this isn't the place for politics, but for balance , may I just respond to the comments above by saying that Thatcher was an evil woman who caused more harm than any prime minister before or since.

I couldn't agree less. Margaret Thatcher is easily the best thing to happen to this country in the last fifty years.

Until we get another like her this country will never sort itself out again.

I'm not a great fan of Maggie, but the difference between Blair and Thatcher, is that Thatcher was a person of action and most of the time she did what she said she was going to do-- she achieved far more in ten years than Blair has. The sticking point is whether you like what she did or not Laughing !

I recognise Blair has done some good for the country (minimum wage, equality laws), but for most the time he hasn't delivered/kept his promises; in fact he's often done the opposite, which is probably why he's so abhorred (Iraq aside)-- and will be abhorred in future after his 'legacies' really take hold.

Sadly I can't see Brown or Cameron (or Campbell for that matter) being vastly different.

That's my tuppence-worth anyway Laughing

Well I don't blaim Tony Blair personally for most of the stuff. False Intelligence led to the Iraq War, And civil servants are responsible for implementing any changes he announces, and if they don't want to do something, it cannot get done!

I thought he found out that the intelligence was false before he took us to war? He should have told the USA get lost as soon as found out that the intelligence was false.

As for the civil service, Blair politicised a lot of it!! He only has himslef to blame; his government has overseen the employment of thousands more pen-pushers, which is why the NHS is so top-heavy these days.

Not that Blair has had any power over things, he has only been Prime Minister for ten years after all Rolling Eyes

Anyway this all beside the poiint as poster ^ right points out Laughing
