Some interesting comments on PR made. When one expert was asked will Labour win another election under the current system, he said "No". It's amazing comparing political predictions of the past to the reality. Another example someone said I think at the 1983 election that there will be a Liberal government by 1990.

In comment to the 1992 election there was national swing from the Tories to Labour and it can be said from there that the slump continued. If an election had been called in 1994 I reckon Labour would have won then.

As much as I disliked Kinnock I can't believe the number of times we heard that people on the hustings had complained that they wouldn't vote for him cos he was Welsh!!

the fact they've chosen to select forced pillarboxing is irritating. it'd be nice to be able to watch it in 4:3 on a 4:3 tv - rather than having the black surround.
As BBC Parliament normally shows exclusively 16:9 content, there isn't actually any means for them to do any aspect ratio switching - other than someone poking at some equipment somewhere in TV Centre. (You're right though, it would be nice if someone had made the effort for the day, but it's prefectly watchable as-is)

I was amused at how, at the end of some outside links the picture would flip / rotate at an angle parallel to the slanted logo behind it, and then fade away in place to reveal it. An effect that would look very dated nowadays I'm sure, but nice to see nonetheless!
Someone's obviously been working their way though the manual for the Charisma Smile

Would it not be the Broadcast Centre rather than TC nowadays?

Nope - it's one of the few BBC channels which Red Bee don't have much to do with.

Had Thatcher stayed on till the 92 election then Labour probably would have won a substantial majority as she simply would never have dumped the 'Community Charge' (Poll Tax).

I disargee (all be it am I that rare of things - a fan of Thatcher who thinks' she was the best PM we ever had)

The poll tax was her mistake and downfall, however if she had gone into a 4th election in 1991 (her original plan) I think she would of won again dispite everything.

I'm sure this isn't the place for politics, but for balance , may I just respond to the comments above by saying that Thatcher was an evil woman who caused more harm than any prime minister before or since.

I know people who would dance on her grave.

Feel free to talk politics at Metropol.
