A few weeks ago the major clusters of cases were all around factories and similar. That was just lazy employers cutting corners and not taking any covid precautions.

That and better access to testing. At least one factory cluster was found as a result of one person having a positive test and the company then deciding to test everyone. Only a couple of months ago that wouldn't have happened, only those with symptoms or who had spent significant time on close proximity to the confirmed case would have been tested.

Good news for golf clubs with the colder weather coming! Currently, sitting in the bar post playing is restricted to two households per table. If three or four have played together it's separate tables or outside. From Monday up to six players from different households can share one table inside (complying with social distancing).

Same for post work drinks in a pub. In many ways this is a relaxation of the rules.

Quite honestly, for those of us still acting with common sense and taking precautions, nothing is changed by this. I've been keeping away from other people as much as possible, and will continue to do so. More than six in any environment has been off my radar since late February ! It'll be same for others like me. For the idiots and morons nothing will change their behaviour either, so all a non story really.

None of this is enforced anyway. I've seen people on public transport not wearing masks (or having them under their chin, eh ?!) The staff don't bat an eyelid, they get more scrutiny regarding the validity of their ticket.

It's changed for me. Us golfers can now go in the clubhouse and have drink after playing and sit at the same table, whereas before if there was four of us, we had to go outside.

Our club has put up gazebos outside, which is fine in the warm weather, but with colder days coming the club's revenue would have fallen drastically without this change.

Common sense! People are very selective about when they use it. Measures to restrict gatherings of people = iT’s So cOnFuSiNg. Eat Out to Help Out = restaurants packed. People are well aware of the rules when it suits them.

We did a couple of EOTHOs and they were Covid secure. One way systems, sanitizing stations, social distancing etc. Far better than having people round each other's houses.

Does it?
Six people thing/rule/requirement doesn't/won't apply at work so you can still return to an office, you just can't go to the pub after work as a large group.

It's more that it's contradictory to claim that it is safe to return to a potentially packed workplace, but it's not safe for seven people to meet in a garden.

Clearly because they are trying to Square the circle between health and the economy

Surely everyone knows this by now, so why are we still getting faux confusion, you’d be ideal to be voxpopped by the BBC

Other than saving a few Pret A Mangers, the economic benefit of sending people back to their offices when their work can be done perfectly well from home does not outweigh the health risks. Completely unnecessary.

Can I remind everyone to stick to TV presentation related matters. For the politics and general life stuff maybe use Metropol instead.

Dragging the thread back on to a presentation theme, I noticed that the only advantage of the extended NaT on ITV was a slightly longer closing credit sequence. Very Happy

Doesn't look like they finished much later than usual anyway. Did either of the 10pm bulletins have "breaking news" when the embargo was lifted, even though it had already been the top headline.

Embargoes still exist?! They're pointless in 2020. We are living in a age of multiple media outlets where information is available from so many sources and in a slightly tangential way the 4.30 run-up to the conferences earlier this year telegraphed what was going to be said so they're a waste of time.
