Clearly younger folk aren't listening at all now.

One week into gatherings currently on hold here in the Glasgow City Council area, my neighbour two floors up had a house party with approx 30-40 people.

Their was local reports coming out here that the Scottish Government is now hinting that pubs are the new hotspot for cases. Surprised that hasn't made the headlines.

Please let’s not turn this into some young vs old debate. I know people of all ages all with varying levels of compliance to the rules at all stages. Young and old. When I’m at the supermarket trying to keep my distance, there are morons of all ages getting too close and ignoring all the guidance/rules.

I suspect individually we all have varying levels of compliance too, taking far greater care in some situations than others.

Maybe this was the real embargoed news (presumably more to do with the NY stock exchange)?

AstraZeneca vaccine trial - the one Hancock was hyping up on LBC - halted due to an adverse reaction in the UK.

I'd have thought that not too unusual in the process to find a vaccine - it is exactly why we have trials.

I wouldn't be suprised if it doesn't turn out to be that much of a hindrance to the vaccine's development either. It probably not hugely bad news seeing as they've injected tens of thousands of people with it over the last several months and this is the first possible adverse reaction. It it turns out to not be vaccine related, or a rare reaction that they can pinpoint the cause of, hopefully it won't delay things too much.

As said, it's the whole reason we need trials, not just taking the Russian route of jumping straight in, in case it turns out there's certain groups who'll react badly to it, then you'll know who can and can't safely be given it.

The AstraZeneca spokesman explained that illnesses when receiving a vaccine in trials do often happen by chance, I'm sure it's fairly common when conducting trials for vaccines and treatments in normal times.

This really does go against their instruction of everyone returning to the office though.

Does it?
Six people thing/rule/requirement doesn't/won't apply at work so you can still return to an office, you just can't go to the pub after work as a large group.

It's more that it's contradictory to claim that it is safe to return to a potentially packed workplace, but it's not safe for seven people to meet in a garden.

Clearly because they are trying to Square the circle between health and the economy

Surely everyone knows this by now, so why are we still getting faux confusion, you’d be ideal to be voxpopped by the BBC

I’m sure we’ll be hearing “confusion as the government announces new measures” in the headlines tomorrow. Repeat until Monday (maybe throw in some “growing pressure” between now and then too).

While I agree in principle that we shouldn’t single out a section of society by age and also agree with the points you raise. The government is now blaming young people, Matt Hancock has said this and it’s further supported with messages such as “don’t kill granny” and that “you can pass it onto family members”.

I think the only reason why there is an issue among the younger age groups is because they tend to have a larger section of friends, bigger social circles and are part of sports teams.

Dragging the thread back on to a presentation theme, I noticed that the only advantage of the extended NaT on ITV was a slightly longer closing credit sequence. Very Happy

Not really as any responsible workplace will have taken precautions as they are supposed to have done, they shouldn't be 'packed'.

A few weeks ago the major clusters of cases were all around factories and similar. That was just lazy employers cutting corners and not taking any covid precautions.

I've visited a number of office workplaces in recent weeks, they've all been either completely deserted, or have an absolute bare minimum staff present. All have had proper CV19 measures in place. That's not to say by any means they are typical of course

It's all a horrible depressing experience though 😑
