No excuse for the briefings not to be back for announcements like this, or at least an announcement in Parliament.

It's not going to be what you think it is, and will be one of those "oh is that it".

Without drawing into a political debate, you could say the CV stuff has been leaked to be a distraction, as has the 10.30 embargo to avoid peak bulletins.

I've seen it is linked to a government resignation or the (illegal) Brexit bill going through today. Presumably the Tens will remain on air to cover it - they both usually go past 10.30 anyway.

Not much of an embargo. Seems to be lead story according to the promo on tonight's ITV News at Ten.

More or less just confirmed by Huw that in the next half hour an announcement will be made on restrictions of 6 people.

Anna Botting saying "shortly" in regards to the same thing.

It's obvious that they pick 10.30 so that the story runs through the whole news cycle tomorrow, starting with the papers and running till the 10pm bulletins the next night.

Personally I'd rather the Prime Minister announced things himself and that we heard them the first time from his lips, rather than drip-feeding via Peston, then a 10.30 embargo, then an appearance by the PM the next day

10:30 won't do that though as the broadcasters will simply tag it onto the end of the ten. If it actually means anything the BBC and ITV will have already told their regional teams that the national news is now extended until 22:32/33 and to plan a slightly shorter bulletin.

Interestingly the subtitles on ITV News said it understood the restrictions would be "from Monday" but the script that Julie Etchingham read out didn't mention this. Perhaps a last minute alteration.
