There's a case I think to simulcast from News24 ALL the weekend bulletins, treating them as News24 output rather than re-editorialising them for BBC ONE purposes. It works reasonably well when for engineering reasons one or other of the studios is unavailable. Weekday bulletins are somewhat more important and shouldn't be lost as separate programmes.

Actually the weekend bulletins often get the biggest audiences of the week.

I don't like the idea of all weekend bulletins coming from News 24. I generally find its all a bit messy. The midday bulletin works the best because it is generally at a fixed time and provides a summary at the start of the hour, with more detail provided after the national bulletin.

For the bulletins starting later in the day I just think its a bit messy. If they did use News 24 all the time for weekend bulletins though, I would want the New 24 presenter to do the bulletin - keep continuity for News 24.

Yes - I'd agree with that.

The Six is the most popular national news show in the UK and the six thirty regional shows are the most popular news programmes period. That's why the controller of BBC1 is looking to hook The One Show into the regional bulletins.
They are not going to be axed.
As for BBC Science Correspondents, well at least two have science PhDs...

That is NOT true, The Ten is the most popular national news show in the UK at the moment.
