Been a while since I posted anything here, thought I'd show you a few clips from a short film set in a local news room, virtual set and real people and a rather north westerly themed title sequence. As well as some custom weather graphics.

Yes, I'd like It explained further. Was it made by you for as part of some University project, Bail?

Ditto. Was the backdrop made yourself? If so, a nice video of it would be nice.... Very Happy

Sorry, I was a bit brief there.

Basically its two bits from my final year disseration film in which I was cam op and graphics guru. The above was created entirely by myself, virutal studio in BBC stylee with animated backdrop (harder than it looks to do!) as well as shooting of cast in green screen for compositing in the shot etc etc. In story terms we make a point about virtual trickery and the like hense why you see the "real" studio at the end looking less than fantastic and the all singing all dancing one before, done in a BBC style because its rectangles and they render quicker Very Happy

The studio was made in carrara and is/was available on lee seamans site (I made it, gave to him to put online) which I've tweaked to make it as I wanted it, blue desk, weather area, etc. The animated backdrop was made in after effects adding bits of live motion to add some realism and a bit of blur so as not to distract to much. Likewise the weather graphics were by me as the story follows a weather girl using the looks to work up the ranks etc etc.

Took a look on Lee's site - are you talking about the file you made quite a while ago with George Alagiah at the desk?

I like that, I like the NWT inspired titles too, what were they made in?

Nice 4/5 for the South Today titles. Much better than what they have now.

That's actually how they started out, it was a mock I never got around to finishing, then when I needed to make some titles I recycled those. They're made in a probably more complicated way than was necessary, the rings were drawn in illustrator then imported into carrara and made as 3D objects, layered and positioned in 3d space as I wanted them, then exported with alpha channels (transparency) and imported into after effects where I drew the map, place lines, rings etc and composited together with live action time-lapse and other bits and bobs.

I do have a propper "south today" version lurking somewhere I'll see if I can upload it, and yes you should find that it cuts with the north west tonight music fairly well too Very Happy

On the titles mock you made did you create the music?
