UTV Ideas

UTV's current branding has more-or-less been around since the 90's and is starting to get a bit outdated. So I have come up with a new logo package. My aim was to create a simple logo that would be versatile and this is my end result:

Constructive criticism invited but bear in mind that this is my first mock!

Interesting that, after dragging up my mock from six months ago, you imitate my mock in most ways, from logo to promo-endboard... You even did a UTV Live one...

Uninspired, to say the least.

I'd love to see how you'd fit Coronation Street onto that endboard.

UTV isn't a very inspiring name for mock designers is it? Here's an idea. How about using the 1993 logo for UTV? It's a lot less bland than the current one:



It also worked well on trailers:

A rehash of someone else's mock, with added themes from ITV1 idents and logo dumped on Google image action.

More personal inventiveness required.

Okay, I have taken the comments into consideration. I do like the older UTV logo (from '93) but it just needs to be more modern. I have taken one of my past efforts and have made a "modernized" version of '93 logo.

It's not really improving as much as different stolen ideas rendered badly again. UTV is an odd choice partially because to me it's not something which is difficult to top having been bland since inception right up to now. But this, this is sloppy unskilled work made in Powerpoint, not exactly the sort of look a popular broadcaster for Norn Iron should have.

If this is genuinely your very first mock ever, don't post here. There's something to learning how to do something and then getting to show off your abilities, right now it's a bit "bored, here's something I made''. Go back, work alone, make new ideas yourself and get better. Look at this and seriously consider if you'd ever see it on TV. If the answer comes up as no (and it should) then back to the drawing board to work over ideas, it's not a one shot and win sort of thing this graphic design lark yknow.

Well, no, it doesn't because people shouldn't be able to discern what you used to make something generally or at least it should be irrelevant. No good thanking me or anyone else for giving advice, use it and I really do mean use it. Don't just follow it to the letter like it's an instruction leaflet, you'll get nothing from it then.

There's only one four letter word for this. Starts in S. Ends in T. And it isn't soot.

Anyway - why is it when somebody comes up with an idea (Daybreak, recently BBC News, before that even more Daybreak, and now UTV) people immediately create mocks of the same brand/channel? What's also interesting is the speed that two people have managed to create these mocks after Critique posted his..

EDIT: I do apologise, I thought Critiques mock was only just posted and not posted 6 months ago and bumped! Either way, maybe come up with your own ideas - seeing re-hashed versions of the same thing is very boring, especially if they aren't very good.

This chappie here resurrected Critique's mock for his first post before going on to create this so no cycle yet. Basic reason is partially flavour of the month and because people might like the idea of making mocks but have no aptitude for creative thought.
