DO
This is a work in progress, and I can see lots of bits which need tidying, but people have been asking me to post these in a thread of their own, so here goes...
Firstly, these are not meant to replace the OBS graphics with something completely new and different, they're more an evolution of the current and previous games graphics, but taken in a different direction to that which OBS has gone down.
The main points behind the design is to:
- Bring more of the current games' graphic design & branding into the television graphics
- Bring some more colour and excitement into the graphics
- Get rid of the garish swoops and gradients which seem to be the mainstay of the current set
- Come up with a sensible, repeatable, respectful animation scheme (the current set IMHO is a complete mess when it comes to animation)
I first started with this:

which quickly got updated to this:

The colours come from the official brand colours for each of the sports, as seen on the tickets, venues and pictograms. I originally used Century Gothic as it's pretty close to the London 2012 secondary font, but it's use didn't translate too well to the graphics. I forsee that in future games, the header & heading font would reflect the games brand, while the rest of the graphics would stay pretty much the same (or with hints to the branding).

This is that design, layed out in one of the grid / table formats.
New stuff...
I decided the dark grey was a bit too dark, so after some experimentation, we now have:

(I've also expanded the country name text a little in response to AxG's post in the other thread)
Updated weather conditions graphic:

I may yet dispense with the heading text, and replace it with icons.
Pre / post coverage billboard

The billboards are shown before the official OBS coverage starts (and after it finishes), generally only seen by broadcasters, although it does occaisionally slip to air on the EBU streams.
Generic information strap

A wide range of information can be carried on these types of graphics. This is just a rough idea (top two lines as used for real, the third line is the unbroadcast real reason the same shot got left up for 15 minutes during one delay).
Sailing graphics

A bit of a mix here - we've got a clock on the right - a marker on the left, and a position table / guide on the mid left. Different elements can be used at different times. This image is more to show the kind of language I'm aiming for - detailed 3D rendered headers, and flat, translucent sufaces for the "body" of the graphics. Simple markers like the "2nd Mark" don't get rendered with the 3D treatment & swoops as they do now.
And that's as far as I've got at the moment... I'll add more as time & enthusiasm allows.
