Some of you may remember a few months ago I created a new-look studio for Sky News, based heavily on the design of Sky News Arabia but put within the existing space of the Sky News Centre.
The original mock is here: http://www.tvforum.co.uk/thegallery/sky-news-40137/
Taking on a few peoples comments, I've been working on polishing the original mock.
This is a view of the centre of the studio - as before, the fins are now in a straight line creating more space. This design moves away from the circular design of the current space and makes everything look a bit more in-keeping with the Sky News design. There are more red fins to move away from the blue, and a new rotating desk podium which includes a larger desk (based on Sky News Arabia's) which can fit more than one presenter.
The backdrop of the presenter would be another part of the newsroom which is currently covered up by the fins - the space between the newsroom and set is divided by glass panels.
Here you can see a typical opening shot at the newswall - it just gives you an idea of how the newsroom area is different from how it is currently - more lighting and plasmas on the back walls, and desks which are straight instead of curved how they are now.
The second image shows the extended shoebox area - again like Sky News Arabia's, this part of the studio is raised, and has a Sunrise set which looks onto both the gallery and newsroom. In my last mock, there was a second, smaller desk, but realistically it would've been a very tight space - so now the idea is that the Sunrise podium could move into the other corner, which has a blue-lit wall - this area could be used for specials such as 'Week in Review'.
These last images have an overview of the studio, showing the Sunrise area and the space in front of the gallery.
I have one rendered image so far - I'm finding it quite hard to light the newsroom area, which is annoying as it looks very dark at the moment.
Please let me know what you think of the design and feel free to give me any bits of advice in terms of improvement
