The MTV one looks too "busy", there are too many graphics moving about the screen at the one time which is just an assault on the eyes at times and you don't know where to look or what to concentrate on. Perhaps if the bars didn't extend the whole way scross the screen and were only as long as the text that is contained in them?

This is how the channels graphics operated from 2011-2013:

What I will do is change it so that the Now, Next & Later animation starts 20 to 30 seconds into a song/programme so that each graphic "has space to breathe" or at least appear after the Song Title animates off of the screen.

Comedy Central's isn't as bad but the graphics seem a little slow to move on screen. I would also move the DOG especially into the corner, it's too far in from it in these mocks, much like it is currently in real life, whereas MTV Rocks is SD and the DOG is nicely in the corner.

I initially didn't read the 'much like it is currently in real life' bit so I was going to say "but that is where the dog is now". But i'll have a try with 16:9 or 14:9 safe DOG (might take some time as I'll have to move all of the graphics into 14/16:9

The graphics I think could all benefit from being a little more transparent instead of 100% opaque like they seem to be here. Overall though I am liking your ideas where you are tightening up the current looks, which for the most part work well, instead of revamping the whole thing.

I don't think transparency would work very well as the colours to me are supposed to stand out and that's what makes the graphics work, as soon as I see this bright pink square in the corner I am attracted to the graphic.

It's a little better, but overall I don't think it's an improvement over what even was on screen in 2011-2013 or currently. The font was nicer in 2011, the background to text boxes had transparency and animations, although happening at once, didn't take over the screen as yours seem to, they just extend to the size of the text and then a little more for comfort, not across the whole screen which I find overly distracting really.

As for Comedy Central HD, its a HD channel, so 14:9 safe shouldn't even be taken into consideration, neither should 4:3 safe. Anyone watching will have to have a widescreen TV and HDMI connection to their TV giving the full resolution. If they aren't, that should be the viewers problem to deal with, not the broadcasters to have to compromise for a handful of viewers who can't set their TV/STB up properly!

I have set the purple background to a 10% transparency.

I can't help that as I believe it was a font made by MTV (correct me if I'm wrong) and I find the font fine, I'm not going to use Futura as I don't want to use it as it is currently being used.

They never 'extended to the size of the text' they faded off at the end to allow for longer titles. But I'm not trying to make this a direct copy of the 2011 graphics, I've tried to incorporate some 2011 ideas.

Don't watch the song title graphics on MTV Music channels now then.

I have to correct myself, the graphics are currently 14:9 safe which I find acceptable, but I'll try 16:9 and see how it looks.

I'll spend some time on MTV and I think what I'll do is try and mix the 2011 and 2013 refresh together by having the 2011 style animations and the 2013 typeface.

Here's something that think would work, it's about 90% just a recreation of the 2013 graphics but I've added some tweaks here and there.
But I've now got the 'TV' part of the logo to animate which I'm happy with.
Also, I cannot do transparency on this type of animation as it consists of layers and two transparent layers over each other makes it more opaque.

Here is what the graphics would look like in 16:9
Also included a new graphic which indicates the two celebrities doing Lip Sync Battle, which works the same way as the Friends/Coming Up graphic, seeing as CC have the 'New' showings of older episodes. (with the inclusion of this graphics I could get rid of the celebrities on the title).

Little idea of developing the existing programmes on the MTV music channels, #RocksTrending #VivaTrending and #BaseTrending
the idea is that every music channel has its own #[insert genre name here]Trending at different times of the day.

The format is based off of TrendingLive and Vote4Music (both shown on 4Music) during the music videos viewer can send in tweets using the hashtag of the programme and vote for the next song by using the hashtags shown in the sidebar.

Very nicely done! I definitely prefer this font to the one you were using previously Thumbs up

I should mention that I remade the all of the animation for the latest video for 1) the graphics weren't aligned correctly and 2) they as further to the 16:9 safe area (I made a template using screen grabs from this video which is from the first day of the 2013 refresh and showcases the graphics when they took up the whole of the 'allowed' safe area: http://youtu.be/YquvteWgFJM )
