I'm liking the revised versions

Loving these, should be in their own thread though, so can rate this properly. However not so sure on the use of the font used on the country codes, are they thick enough for SD? NZL looks very bunched up. But I am a fan of the London 2012 font.

It's big and simple, but it's boring, and not even that nice to look at.

Hello again. I've upgraded my software and I've invested in Adobe Fireworks CS6, and after some practice, created another set of OBS graphics. Yes, these do echo other mocks, but I'm just wondering what you all think: have I made the right choice investing in Fireworks? Do you think that with a lot of time and effort I could become a promising mocker?

Now, I'm not expecting any rave reviews, but here's Take Two of my OBS London 2012 Graphics, now featuring flags!

1: Various strips. Blue is the staple color here, and orange will be used for announcements, and a pink will be used for the Paralympics. These strips are accompanied by the respective logos.

2: Results for the Women's Heptathlon (spelt wrong in the picture). The SURNAME Forename text would, obviously, be replaced, and so would the Union Flags.

I wasn't sure about the colours on this one.

3: A Pre/Post coverage billboard. Not sure if this has all of the necessary info on... Confused

So, there you have it. Constructive criticism and opinions welcome.

There isn't much improvement to be honest, it still lacks any character in the design. Just from my point of view its all a bit vague, is there a concept at all? If you practice and take inspiration from good design, then you can improve. I've used Fireworks and its a good piece of software to make mocks in for vector stuff, especially if you're starting out.

Take Three - with a colourful, geometric feel.

1: Straps...

2: Pre/Post coverage billboard...

Side note: The background illustrations in this mock are by designer Charis Tsevis.

3: Technical Difficulties (not sure if this is required, but still, here it is):

4: 2 variants for the results. One uses a generic illustration whilst the other uses a blurred shot of the respective venue.

I chose this style because I think it ties in quite well with London 2012, keeping the youthful, out-there, style used in the branding.

I saw the thumbnail and thought 'wow, this could be brilliant'. It was. But the brilliant part is someone else's. You've done that classic mock design thing of getting a particular font already used by a channel/organisation, and designing it around that. Not good when you don't really progress much from there.

Charis Tsevis, whoever that is (link?) gets 5 stars for superb artwork.

+1 to this. I thought you'd undergone some bizarre change, and actually improved, but it was not to be.

So you've taken someone elses image, and slapped a bit of text on top? Couldn't you at least have put in a little effort and made some names and countries up?

But, this shows why you needn't bother. It's a terrible idea. What happens if some of the people in the background are wearing white? Your text disappears, as has almost happened with the 8. I certainly wouldn't want to be trying to read that from halfway across the room on a sunny day.

You need to be spending a lot more time on these ideas before you post them. How about instead of trying to rebrand the whole thing, take your idea for a results table (which is missing the times / points) and keep iterating out ideas for that.

The question you should always ask before posting is "can I see this being used on TV?"... can you answer "yes" for these images?

It's all very well you complaining, but I bet you can't do any better.

Urm...I don't like to butt in, but as a matter of fact, I'd say that dosxuk's 2012 graphics mock is the best on here...
