Hey!

I took a break from mocking and I've come back fresh with a new design for the Olympics presentation.

In my opinion, the presentation for the Olympics is looking rather old now, and it needs a facelift. So, here's my idea.

It uses 2 weights of the font Avenir - Avenir 65 and Avenir Light. I also tried dumping the flags and replacing them with text - such as 'GBR' and 'JPN'.

Please leave constructive criticism below and tell me what I could improve on, and I'll take your suggestions under my wing.

Firstly, a timer for sports such as swimming:

As well as a corner graphic used at the end of every swimming length:

And a variation for sports such as water polo:

And, finally 2 sets of swimming results:

So, please leave your comments below and tell me what you think!

A great start GeorgeB!

Good use of fonts and layout, and also for remembering safe areas!

To improve -
Not too keep on the orange colour, doesn't really 'go' with the swimming, unlike he current presentation on the BBC
I think that the flags seem missed not being included, maybe you could include them hen you made more?

I've changed the colour on the results, now in blue. Is this better?

TBH I find it too boring; and big.

I agree, its beyond plain and lacks any aspect of Olympic branding. Don't forget this is an event watched by billions.

If you're going for simple then every element has to sit and work together perfectly and inventively; otherwise you end up with a few rectangles sat one on top of the other.

The live scoreboard is too big and the fact you whipped up a new colour version while leaving everything else unaltered suggests you're not spending enough time on these.

Again.

Where is the impact? The style? and the branding?
There is nothing there to say its anything to do with the Olympics, London 2012 etc!

I don't see how it's an improvement to what the BBC currently have.

Im not a mocker, do not intend to. But the BBC's is 3D, has shadows, a colour scheme that works all round.

Branding is important. Start with the bits you have to have, flags, logo, title, sport name etc

Yours is clean and bright, but too spacey
