Thames Television After 1993

NOTE: I would like to say that these mocks are personally not mine. These mocks were first created in 2000 by Brad Jones for use on his defunct Java British Television Nostaglia website. Java was the website that probably introduced ident mocks to the Internet and to the world. Other than that, please enjoy Brad Jones' greatest works.

In this world, the skyline was never axed. In 1996 it was rearranged in blocks, complete with reflection. A sans serif typeface was re-introduced.

Just the top half of the skyline was used on the production captions.

The ITV logo was dropped from the presentation slides, though.

The captions also retained the skyline, but reflected in the opposite way..

St Pauls Cathedral formed the background for the new Thames News titles.

The Cathedral and typeface are inaugarated into the ITV generic look, introduced in November 1999.

If Brad wanted his mocks displayed here, he'd put them here himself.

I echo the previous post, if he wanted them on here then it could have been done by himself....

Motivation aside, what's the aesthetic worth in posting 13-year old mocks from a defunct site? Design software, techniques, tastes and expectations have improved and the critics' knives are sharper. All you've done is waste just a little bit more of the world's resources.

Does say a lot though that a set of mocks someone made back in 2000 are better than a lot of stuff posted here today.

Jesus, give him a break! Why does everyone have to be so miserable and negative? Thank you for reposting these. I remember Java-TV first time around and it's great to see these mocks for the first time in 13 years.
