I'm afraid that animations aren't really possible. These pics take just under an hour a piece to render, so I would have to compromise quality to do a video. It might be possible in the future, but not with my current PC, sadly.
As for the coffee table, I think I'll save the BH and Salford versions for a while.
On a totally unrelated note, No one knows the size of the Breakfast studio in salford, or maybe the type and size of the screens on set...?

Sorry it's been so long, I haven't had much time to do anything!
james.914: These are made using Blender, not Sketchup, never the less, Sketchup is still a very powerful tool!
Critique: Originally I found the picture quite a while ago, but in the interest of being self sufficient, I've had a go a loosely recreating the globe myself:

And a couple of broadcast versions for good measure...

It seems as if I've hijacked my own thread, so I'll try and bring it back to TC7 with this:
I'd like to know if this Newsnight background is suitable enough before I jump into rendering, I wasn't able to find the original, and I wasn't able to find a high quality picture of a London skyline, so I had to compromise with New York
Thanks,
DG6

Thanks for the information - the globe is very nicely done.
In terms of the Newsnight backdrop, there are a few things you can do to improve it. The background for that era was actually a room, with the skyline being behind the glass wall in the room. You can see what I mean in this article from the designer of the backdrop. Whilst the seating in the room was removed, the floor and ceiling remained, so maybe you could add the floor and ceiling in? Just an idea.
Sorry for the waffle!

It's been a while, but here are some Newsnight images. I'm especially proud of the "awkward crossing of the baking trays" shot
